The World Health Organization has reported 31,088 cases of dengue in the Philippines and 134 deaths as of mid- July 2014.
Locally, a report from the Department of Health states that 40% of annual dengue infections occur among children 1-10 years old. Dengue is the leading cause of childhood hospitalizations in the country because they still have underdeveloped systems that make them more susceptible to the disease.
But, there is good news. With the right information, dengue can be prevented!
Over the last three years, Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion has been touring schools to empower children and their schools against dengue. Dubbed as the “Green Cross Dengue Defenders”, this “edutainment” campaign features animated characters and interactive videos that make dengue defense a fun and memorable experience for the children.
This year, more schools have enlisted to become part of the Green Cross Dengue Defenders family! To date, 30,000 children have been trained on how to keep dengue mosquitoes from multiplying and invading their schools and homes, how to spot the signs of the disease and most importantly how they can protect themselves and their loved ones from the disease. Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion is committed to make schools become Dengue Defense Zones.
Of course, kids can’t go out to boldly fight dengue without having themselves protected first! Integral to the solution would be Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion Gentle Protect as it gives dengue defense expertly made for kids. It provides up to 8-hours protection against day and night dengue mosquitoes, hypoallergenic and has a non-greasy feel, which kids love! Only Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion has been tested and endorsed by the Philippine Association of Entomologists, Inc. (PAE)
